James Robert Myer
I’m a self-taught artist who has loved pencil drawing from an early age. I started out sketching dinosaurs, a natural extension of one of my first hobbies – collecting fossils.
I have a passion for history that I am now enjoying through my artwork. I worked in the masonry trade for 35 years which left minimal time and energy to be creative with my pencils. My early retirement due to health issues has been a mixed blessing, giving me the opportunity to delve back into my real joy of sketching historical images. I have a home studio where I spend many long hours at my drawing table, located close to the wood stove for warmth during the cold Michigan winters.
My other hobbies include hunting, fishing, and collecting antique tools and tobacco tins. My Triumph Tiger motorcycle brings me closer to the great outdoors that I truly love. Originally from Troy, Michigan, I have lived in Waterford, Michigan for the past 34 years. My wife, Lisa, and I have three grown sons, one granddaughter, and a dog.
